“Don’t lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It’s okay not to be okay
Sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart
Tears don’t mean you’re losing
Everybody’s bruising
Just be true to who you are
Who you are, who you are, who you are” - Jessie J
This song has so much meaning, it’s unbelievable. There’s this girl,
Jillian Jensen. She was severely bullied for her middle and high school
years. She’s 19 years old. In fact, she’s a month younger than Demi
Lovato. Well Jillian preformed on the XFactor. They had asked her her
age. That’s where it all starts. Demi saying, I am too! And discovering
she was only a month older. Jillian had mentioned being a fan. Then she
said, “And I swear this is completely by coincidence, but we have the
same tattoo for the same reasons.” and Demi thought this was awesome.
Jillian kept talking. She was saying how she was severely bullied and
thanking Demi for doing so much with anti-bullying foundations. She
began to cry. She started her performance of, “Who You Are” by Jessie J
(Seen above). She was crying as she sang her heart and feelings out.
During the song, Demi turned to one of her co-judges, Britney Spears,
and said and I quote, “You can feel that pain.” And Demi began to cry.
When Jillian finished, Demi wiped her eyes, got up from her chair, and
walked over towards the stairs to the stage. She motioned for Jillian to
walk over. She gave Jillian the biggest and most meaningful hug you
could ever give someone. Jillian fully lost it there. All that emotion
could finally be let go. Someone actually understood and felt what she
went through. Demi said to her, “I know exactly what you’re going
through, but I made it through it and I know you can, too. You
are so strong. That was amazing. Absolutely amazing.” Jillian, still
crying, said, “Thank you.” and Demi asked for another hug. The judges
began their comments. L.A. Reid said, “Honey I have never heard anybody
take their experiences, take their pain, take their emotion and pour it
into a song the way you did. EVER. That’s what this business is all
about. You got it! And to all the people that bullied you, all of those
idiots,” and he gives her a caring look and points to her like saying,
“Bullies, look at her. Look what you did, but look how far she’s come.”
Britney said, “I really don’t think you should be crying right now. You
are so amazing. Your voice is so raspy, and like sexy, and incredibly
beautiful. It is so beautiful.” Simon said, “I thought that was, that
was incredible. Like you said, L.A., it was sung with so much pain, and
for you to have gone through with whatever you’ve gone through, as
Britney said this is not a time now for you to be crying, it’s for you
to do what your tattoo says. To stay strong because you’re incredible.”
Demi holds up her wrists and shows her tattoo to Jillian and mouths, “I
love you.” Demi said, with the greatest amount of respect and pain in
her voice and tears in her eyes, “I.. I cannot believe how amazing that
just was. I felt it when you started talking about being bullied and I
knew that you had been through a lot, but when you sang, you broke my
heart. And the fact that you have the ability to stand on stage and sing
while you’re crying is so brave. So amazing.” She received all four
yeses. Simon even told her it was the easiest yes he had said that day.
Her family burst from back stage onto the stage with her and jus hug
her. As Jillian walks off stage, she says thank you to Demi and to the
other judges. Demi began crying again and wiped her tears with a tissue.
After she leaves, and the judges go back stage, Demi asked Simon,
“Really, honestly, did you tear up because I saw your eyes were a little
wet.” Simon said he did tear up a tiny bit. You know you have to be
good to get all four judges cry, including SIMON COWELL. Jillian is
absolutely fantastic and I have so much respect for her. With all that
she had to go through. And I have respect for Demi as well. To actually
understand what she was going through and talk to her like they’ve been
best friends for years. Absolutely incredible.
Here’s the video of everything that happened. I recommend watching it. It is amazing.
